A is for......Absences (Students who are absent need a written excuse for the absence to be excused). Students are allowed 5 hand-written excuses from parents per semester. Attendance (School begins at 7:45 a.m. Students are marked tardy after 7:45 a.m.)
B is for....Birthdays (You may send in store bought cupcakes that are in a sealed package with the ingredients label listed or purchase ice cream from the cafeteria to celebrate your child's birthday. Ice- cream is $1.00 per child.)
C is for..... Communication (Please write a note, send an email, or call me at school #840-9525)
D is for Discipline (Positive behavior is essential to a constructive learning environment. Our classroom discipline policy outlines expected behaviors and the rewards/consequences to enforce those expectations.) We have our Behavior Contract.
E is for......Emergency Information (Please make sure that all of your child's emergency information is current.) Please contact me with a change of phone number, address, emergency contact person, etc....
F is for.....Field Trips (At this time, we do not know if we will have field trips.)
G is for.....Grades (Kindergarten students are given + or - for Kindergarten skills on their Progress Report and Report Card; and Activity Classes and Conduct are based on effort (an S, S-, N, or U will be given.)
H is for....Homework (Homework will come home in your child's OWL Binder. Please read the parent letters from both our CKLA ELA Curriculum and Reveal Math Curriculum.
I is for.....Illness (Our school practices a Fever Free Policy. Your child should be fever free for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
J is for.....Journal Writing (Your child will engage in journal writing.)
K is for....Kindness (Students are encouraged to treat each other with kindness and respect.)
L is for.....Learning Centers (Students work in learning centers that reinforce literacy skills and math skills. Learning centers occur during small group instruction time.)
M is for......Money (Please send in money in a sealed envelope with your child's name, my name, and the purpose of the payment (i.e.. ice-cream money, concessions, school picture money, etc.)
N is for....Newsletter (Our class weekly newsletter is sent home every Friday. The newsletter provides current curriculum skills, upcoming events, and special activities.)
O is for....Opportunities (Parents who would like to help out with our class in some way is greatly appreciated.
P is for.....P.T.O. (Our PTO of Drummonds Elementary serves to provide our school with essential supplies and activities. Please show your support of our school and volunteer or become a member.) Join us on FaceBook.

R is for...Reading Please read to your child nightly for listening comprehension and vocabulary development. This is also a great way to model interest in reading.
S is for....Snack (We do have snack time daily at 9:30 a.m.. We have a monthly snack calendar to allow all students the same snack. NO SODA please. Please send in a water filled bottle that is spill-proof.
